Worthy – Part 3

God is God and I will always owe him my worship

God is always Holy (set apart, separate, unique)

God is breathtaking and exact in all he does

God is always righteous and just

Righteousness is always right (sinless)

Ps. 145:17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways (sinless, right)

James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Psalm 89:14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.

God is always Just

Ecclesiastes 12:14God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad

Matthew 12:36 But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.

Justice

“Oh, Aslan!” whispered Susan in the Lion’s ear, “can’t we – I mean, you won’t, will you? Can’t we do something about the Deep Magic? Isn’t there something you can work against it?” “Work against the Emperor’s magic?” said Aslan turning to her with something like a frown on his face. And nobody ever made that suggestion to him again.” – The Chronicles of Narnia, C. S. Lewis

“You will find,” Arthur said, “that when kings are bullies who believe in force, the people are bullies too. If I don’t stand for law, I won’t have law among my people. You see, Lance, I have to be absolutely just. Far from being willing to execute his enemies, a real king must be willing to execute his friends.”

“Arthur, what a magnificent dilemma. Let her die and your life is over; let her live and your life’s a fraud. Which will it be, Arthur? Do you kill the queen or kill the law?”  – The Once and Future King, T. H. White

Substitutionary Atonement – Jesus substituted himself to pay my penalty

Romans 3:25-26 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood… God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.

Ps. 73:2-10 But as for me, I almost lost my footing. My feet were slipping, and I was almost gone. For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness… And so the people are dismayed and confused, drinking in all their words.

Luke 16:19-21 Jesus said, “There was a certain rich man who was splendidly clothed in purple and fine linen and who lived each day in luxury. At his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus who was covered with sores. As Lazarus lay there longing for scraps from the rich man’s table, the dogs would come and lick his open sores.

Luke 16:22-24 “Finally, the poor man died and was carried by the angels to sit beside Abraham at the heavenly banquet. The rich man also died and was buried, and he went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Abraham in the far distance with Lazarus at his side. “The rich man shouted, ‘Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. I am in anguish in these flames.’

Justice will always happen

God is always righteous and just

God is God and I will always owe him my worship
