Trust God

Psalm 4:5 trust in the Lord

Faith is inseparable from trust

Without trust, faith is inadequate and shockingly indistinguishable from the faith of demons who believe and shudder before God. – Michael Houdman

James 2:19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

“Sin was introduced into the world by our ancestors choosing not to trust God.”

2 Kings 18:21 On whom are you depending, that you rebel against me? Look, I know you are depending on Egypt, that splintered reed of a staff, which pierces the hand of anyone who leans on it! Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who depend on him.

“At it’s core Christianity is an invitation to recenter one’s life around a living relationship of trust with the Father”

Trust is a relational word

Trust is at the center of every healthy relationship – Andy Stanley

Trust (noun): “assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something”

Trust (verb) “to ask a trustworthy person to do something for me.”

Jeremiah 17:7 Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord And whose trust is the Lord.

God I trust you to do what you promised (the one who trusts in the Lord)

God I trust who you are (whose trust is the Lord)

Trust in the Lord to do what he promised

2 Peter 1:3-4 His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us… For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature.

2 Cor. 1:20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.

Isaiah 40:31 but those who Hope (wait with God in anticipation) in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

We trust in the Lord to keep his promises

Isaiah 55:11 MY word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it

When we can’t point to a promise, we trust the person of God

2 Cor. 4:17-18 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Heaven knows our lonely ways, Heaven knows our sorrows, Heaven knows things that we don’t know and the joy of eternal tomorrows – Mark Heard

Dan. 3:17-18 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.

God sees/God listens/God cares

I trust God’s promises and his person
