July 16, 2023 Colossians 1:21-23
Col. 1:10 We always pray for you… that you will grow as you learn to know God better and better
Col. 1:18-20 Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.
Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body
The world is the creation of Christ, the church is the new creation of Christ. Barclay
So he is first in everything
through him God reconciled everything to himself
1 Tim. 2:3-4, 6 This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth… He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.
Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Col. 1:21-23 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
Are we good? Compared to whom?
James 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
The standard of good is God
To present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation
2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
If you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel.
Don’t stop believing
