Random Chance or Perfect Design? | Wonder of It All Part I

Random Chance or Perfect Design? | Wonder of It All Part I

Every class was like a worship service

“If it isn’t science, it’s fiction.”

God’s Power, Creativity, Vastness, Perfect design

Lawrence Krauss “I can’t prove that God doesn’t exist, but I’d much rather live in a universe without one.”

Faith: Strong belief in God based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof

Purpose of series is to switch glasses

In Science we are only reading the notes to a poem; in Christianity we find the poem itself. ~ CS Lewis

All truth is God’s truth

The conflict between science and faith comes from either misunderstanding science or misinterpreting the Bible. ~ Augustine of Hippo

Science has limits on what it can discover

Observe, Hypothesis, Experiment, Results, Conclude (repeat)

Repeated to be proved

Repetition increases certainty in science

History can not be scientifically proven

History can’t be repeated

The Atheistic Story

Everything came from nothing (conservation of mass, energy)

The beginning started with nothing starting it

The universe luckily has the most intricate laws in order to sustain life

The universe appears marvelously constructed to produce stars, planets, and life.

Scientists have calculated that if the force binding atomic nuclei were just 0.5 percent different, the processes that forge atoms inside stars would have failed to produce either carbon or oxygen—key ingredients to life. If gravity were only slightly stronger or weaker, stars like our sun could not have formed. Yet physicists see no reason why the constants of nature are set just so.” Charles W. Petit

The Earth lucky had perfect systems, chemicals, size, atmosphere to sustain life

Incredibly intricate life randomly came from nothing

Life developed into beautiful, diverse, mind boggling complexity due to luck/time

Lawrence Krauss “Humans are just a bit of pollution. If you got rid of us, and all the stars and all the galaxies and all the planets and all the aliens and everybody, then the universe would be largely the same. We are completely irrelevant.”

Romans 1:20-22 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature (creativity, vastness, intricate wisdom) —have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools…

There is a wonder in creation that has been stolen from us

God’s perfect design

Psalm 8:1 Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens.

Lord, you are majestic in all you do!
