Pop Up Emotions – Part 2

Pop Up Emotions – Part 2

There are real reasons for popup emotions but do we really need to accept them

What is in our hearts will eventually spill out on those who are closest to us

Recap:

Guilt: Change out the narrative
The person who is forgiven the most loves the most
My past may remind me, it will not define me.
My past will lead me to worship

Envy

Proverbs 14:30 A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones

Galatians 5:26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

There is no win in comparison

Why are we so apt to envy?

  1. We all can imagine (better)
  1. We choose high reference points
  1. We give meaning to every event
  1. Some kinds of comparison drive us

Ecc. 4:4 And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

Ecc. 4:5 Fools fold their hands and ruin themselves

Ecc. 4:5 Better one handful with tranquility than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind

Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Heb. 12:1 A huge cloud of witnesses is all around us. So let us throw off everything that stands in our way. Let us throw off any sin that holds on to us so tightly. Let us keep on running the race marked out for us.
