Money can be used here to get people there
Money is a tool for eternity
Money is a test
Act. 20:25 It is more blessed to give than to receive
What stops us from being generous?
We think we don’t we have enough to be generous
First Fruits/Tithing: the first ten percent is given to God
I will worship God with my first and my best and trust God with the rest
God abundantly provides for me so he can abundantly provide through me
Jesus’ new normal of radical generosity
The LORD does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the LORD’s, and He will give you into our hands (1 Sam. 17:4).
1 Chron. 21:1 Then Satan stood up against Israel and moved David to number Israel
2 Sam 24:1 Again the anger of the Lord burned against Israel, and he incited David against them
“Now again the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and it incited David against them . . .” (2 Sam. 24:1 NASB).
2 Sam. 24 18-24 On that day Gad went to David and said to him, “Go up and build an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.” So David went up, as the Lord had commanded through Gad. When Araunah looked and saw the king and his officials coming toward him, he went out and bowed down before the king with his face to the ground. Araunah said, “Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” “To buy your threshing floor,” David answered, “so I can build an altar to the Lord, that the plague on the people may be stopped.” Araunah said to David, “Let my lord the king take whatever he wishes and offer it up. Here are oxen for the burnt offering, and here are threshing sledges and ox yokes for the wood. Your Majesty, Araunah gives all this to the king.” Araunah also said to him, “May the Lord your God accept you.” But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”
God chose me to give
Radical Generosity
Let me be the one to have the joy and privilege of being the channel of God’s love
2 Corinthians 9:7-8 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
God loves radical generosity
God abundantly provides for me, so he can abundantly provide through me
Proverbs 11:24-25 (The Message) The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller. The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.
