Holy Over Hustle: Make a Clearing to Listen The Whisper

Holy over Hustle

Our hearts were created to be in relationship with God

John 10:10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

Ps. 46:10 Be still and know that I am God

Isaiah 64:4 Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.

Is. 40:31 those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.

Lamentations 3:25 The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the person who seeks Him.

Ps. 130:5-6 I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning. (Involves active anticipation, longing)

Don’t let your mind think about anything you haven’t prayed for

Set apart sabbaths with God and his word

God loves me

To be loved and not known is comforting but superficial. To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known and truly loved is the love of God. It is what we need more than anything. Tim Keller

God is with you every moment

Where are you now?

Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Psalm 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence

“In every season, in every moment, God is in the room” (Dr. Alicia Britt Chole).

Where are you now? What would you say to me?

John 10:3-4 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice

Jesus lived led

John 5:19 So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.

Jesus did not preform miracles on demand

Jesus did not travel every time a door opened

Jesus did not heal every time there was a need

Jesus did not preach every time multitudes gathered

John 7:3-6 Jesus’ brothers said to him, “Leave here and go to Judea, where your followers can see your miracles! You can’t become famous if you hide like this! If you can do such wonderful things, show yourself to the world!” For even his brothers didn’t believe in him. Jesus replied, “Now is not the right time for me to go.

Jesus’ example makes it clear that living led is not a passive default for the souls, it is an intentional leaning in to listen (Dr. Alicia Britt Chole).

Living led leads to self-control

Proverbs 25:28 Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.

We are stewards (not owners) of the gifting and strengths God has entrusted to us. (Dr. Alicia Britt Chole).

Timidity is fear driven

Hesitation is doubt driven

Restraint is obedience driven

If a person does not keep pace with their companions, perhaps it is because they hear a different drum Henry David Thoreau

By Living Led we discover Jesus’ burden is light

Where are you now? What would you say to me?
