Time is limited, so gain what will last
‘Time that we kill’ will never be resurrected
I am responsible to God for my time
Seek Shalom
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Mark 4:35-40 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped.
Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
They didn’t believe that
1) They’d make it to the other side
2) He cared
The Lie: “God doesn’t really care, we’re facing life on our own”
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
We wake Jesus up and tell him he doesn’t care
Comparing to God
Proverbs 14:30 A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.
Worrying to God
Matt. 6:25-26 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
