Your time is your life
Perspective from Moses’ Psalm
Psalm 90:1-2 Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
Psalm 90:3 You turn people back to dust, saying, “Return to dust you mortals.”
Psalm 90:4 A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.
Psalm 90:10 Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.
Health has a freedom that very few realize until you don’t have it
Ps. 90:10 If only we knew the power of your anger! Your wrath is as great as the fear that is your due.
Sum: God, you have seen every life. Time flies by and we will all die, we don’t want to face your anger, and we need to give you reverence in the little time we have
Ps. 90:12 Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Teach us our time is limited
Limits push us to ask questions
Wisdom comes with learning
Often our wisdom is drawn from the vat of what we know
Matt. 6: 19-21 “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.” – Jim Elliot
Time is limited, so gain what will last
Matt. 6:32-33 (CEV) Only people who don’t know God are always worrying about such things. Your Father in heaven knows that you need all of these. But more than anything else, put God’s work first and do what he wants. Then the other things will be yours as well.
