Abide – Part 2

Is this a “Bible Word” – is this Christian language only? Seems mysterious

Greek Word: Meno (verb) To… “Be With” “Continue With” “Stay with” “to remain”

Be Present With

Abide: Be Present With: Engaged, Attentive to God

It is Conscious and Intentional

Ps. 139: 7-12 I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night— but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you.

Abide: To be present with

James 4:8 Come close to God and he will come close to you

Lean into God and he will lean into you – and that’s amazing!

Daily Time / Any Time

Intentional meaningful time with God

Ps. 5:3 Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.

Psalm 143:8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.

Why is the Bible an essential food group?

Matt. 4:4 ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’

1 Peter 2:1-3 Like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation

The Bible is God’s one-of-a-kind communication to us

2 Tim. 3:16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God

2 Peter 1:20-21 Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.

2 Cor. 2:11 No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and powerful

The Bible is the only God-written library
