who we are?
Who are we? Church on the Rock is a gathering of believers who want to experience God and make a difference in this world. We exist to turn non-Christians into fully developed followers of Christ.

Values
XL Faith. We take risks, we pray hard and see God do his specialty… the impossible. Pray large or go home.

God’s Word, Daily. We believe that unless you unplug from the world’s noise and plug into the Bible daily that you will not experience all that God has for you.

Serve in Your Groove. Every believer has some thing beautiful to give away. We help you discover your gift and calling and let you experience the joy of serving others.

Stretch ourselves to Reach. None of us are still on this planet for ourselves. All believers are charged with the responsibility of reaching a friend, our community and a part of the world with the words and works of Jesus. We are about those outside our walls.

Next Generation. The next generation is in the time of their lives making key decisions on career, marriage partner, and faith. We want to be in the most significant time of people’s lives, so we influence this next generation.

Strong Families. Nothing influences the next generation as well as strong families. Our job is to equip families to excel in their first ministry, their family Transforming Life Events. How do we know if we are winning as a church? If we hear stories of a constantly increasing number of life transformations, then we are winning. This is the great adventure, seeing Christ formed in every child of God.

Connected. We are a church of relationships. Whether is it through a small group, mentoring pairing, or a service team, we want everyone to be as committed to each other as Christ is committed to us.

Innovation, Excellence and Passion. These are the crossroads of our services. We will keep fresh with innovation, be the best for the King through excellence and be real enough to show our passion for Him.

We want to bring every person to God maturing in him. (Col. 1:28 We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.) In understanding this, our maturity is a mixture of our words, actions flowing from changed thinking and attitudes, in other words a totally transformed life. The Bible talks about this total transformation in terms of us taking on a whole new identity. At Church on the Rock we encourage each other to grow toward six new identities.

1) Child of God. Every person has a choice to say “yes” to God’s gift of forever life. God has taken the thousand steps to us and only asked that we turn around, admit our sin, believe that Jesus is God, our only way of forgiveness and commit our lives to him. Once we have accepted this gift, we become a Child of God. We now live out this new identity by daily walking with our new Father, listening to him, accepting His acceptance, obeying His every whisper.

2) Ambassador. The reason we don’t go directly to heaven to be with God after accepting God’s gift, is that we are asked to carry His message to others. We simply don’t talk to others about Jesus, we are his 24/7 walking billboards, his ambassadors. In words, in deeds, in attitude we are always sowing seeds of light with our friends who are on the way to God, with our community, the Hamilton Mountain and the world.

3) Alien. A part of our transformation is that we become a citizen of heaven. God already sees us there. Because of that we no longer “fit in” down here. Missing God’s best for us is no longer “ok.” We have open plans and open hands to the move of where God wants us to be. We just don’t belong here, and more and more we stick out as unique, shinning individuals that God had designed from the beginning.

4) Part of the Body of Christ. The moment we accept God’s gift he places us in His body. We become an eye, an ear, a hand, in other words God gives us gifts to be used for the good of others. These gifts only make sense if we are connected to others in the local church. Being a part of the body, means more than using your gift in the local church, it means that we are for each other in unity of purpose. We bear each other’s burdens, forgive each other and accept each other. We may accept Christ’s gift individually, but after that it is not about you as an individual, it is about us as a body.

5) Temple of the Holy Spirit. God now lives inside of us, the moment you accepted Christ’s gift. The third part of the Trinity is intimately connected to you, supernaturally leading and empowering. You take God with you every where you go.

6) Steward. The moment you accept Christ’s gift everything you have becomes God’s. In this short time we are on this planet we are allowed to take care of God’s things. There is not one possession, not one dollar or not one second of your life that is not God’s property. So we ask God what He wants before we spend one day or one dollar. We give to the poor and to our work together. We freely use God’s possessions for His purposes. This changes how we live every day.
